Another Trip!

Last weekend we went to Dallas to see my sister and her husband. I was a little aprehensive about the trip because I've never driven that far with just me and the kiddos before. I shouldn't have been nervous-we had a wonderful time.

On Thursday we went to see Emily's school. That was really fun for the kids because they'd never seen inside a "big school" before, as they call it. We got to walk around and go in Emily's class, and even meet some of the office staff. Then we went to the American Girl store. That is one huge, crazy place. Little girls are running around everywhere! They even have a salon where you can get your doll's hair styled. We had made a deal with C that she could earn money for reading books, so she had around $40 to spend and she had a great time picking out clothes with the money she'd earned herself.

Friday we went to the mall in Frisco and the kids rode a carousel for the first time! It was so much fun to see their excitement. We rode it twice. Then we went to Build a Bear and D made a firefighter horse. It was so cute! We had never been to Build a Bear before and it was neat to go through the whole process-picking out an animal, giving it a heart (and making a wish), stuffing it, giving it a "bath," picking out clothes, and finally naming it. D named his horse Star Togey. Star was the name of his carousel horse, and Togey is the name D gives almost everything. So Star Togey it was. We tried to get E to build a stuffed animal, but she was pretty adament about not wanting one.

The next day we went to the dog park and this little play village park thing in the middle of a shopping center. It was the craziest thing! Right in the middle of a strip mall shopping center was a dog park and a play area for the kids that was like a little village. The play area had a train caboose that you could go in and play with foam blocks, a miniture fire house, bank, train depot, and other play houses. It even had a maze for the children to play in! Then outside the children's area was a sitting area with an outdoor fireplace. They even have live music there weekly. I have never been to a shopping center like that before!

Later we went swimming, and the after naps we went to the Wiggly Play Center. It was kind of like a giant fast food play area only Wiggle's themed. They had Wiggles movies and songs playing everywhere! It was really kind of overwhelming, but the kids had a lot of fun. Even E got into the action, climbing up and sliding down. She also liked driving around in a foot-powered "Big Red Car." They really enjoyed it, but after about 2 hours were ready to go.

The next day we went to Waco to pick up Kyle after his RV test and headed home. I was sad that the kids didn't get to see more of David (he was working most of the time we were there) but the weekend was still about as perfect as it could have been.
